Fun pony that requires experienced rider. He has been allowed to 'get away with it' in the past - if one is firm but kind then he responds beautifully.
Good on the flat: has been very well schooled before he came to us. Not so keen on jumping - we believe it has been a saddle issue in the past - will happily pop up to eighteen inches though. Good to hack - practically bombproof. Good on lead rein. Excellent at Handy Pony!
Good to load, travel, vet, farrier, back man, dentist. Good doer. Is laminitic and suffers from mild sweetitch, but both are easily controlled. He's ridden most days and kept fit. He has a Horsewear fly sheet and that controls the sweatitch.
We started to teach him to do Games, but eldest daughter doesn't have much time, and youngest has given up horse. He got the idea, but is currently at the steady stage rather than the blasting along stage!
This is a lovely pony who has had some tough times in the past. He doesn't bite or kick and he is easy to catch: he likes people, he just needs some one-on-one attention. He can be strong under saddle (buck, run off) until the rider explains who is the boss, then he settles nicely. We would like him to ideally stay at the yard he is now (Morley, Derbyshire), or certainly witihn easy travelling distance so as we can easily stay in touch.
The picture is from last year, when youngest daughter was still riding. |
