Jess is my first horse and I have had her for nearly 5 years, and I absolutely love her to bits. She is a 10 year old, 15.1 Tri-Coloured Irish Cob Mare. She is the easiest horse to do, no bad manners in this cob even the most novice handler could deal with jess, she is a little gem and has always been a favourite at the livery yards I have been at the last 5 years. Unfortunately Jess was very green when I bought her and obviously being a first horse it took us both a long time to learn together, therefore I havent done as much with her as I would have liked to competitively, although we have gone out most years to do some form of local shows, sponsored rides, it was always difficult as I didnt have my own transport, although I have now invested in a trailer yay! However Jess was diagnosed with joint degeneration this year in her sacroiliac joint, at first I wasnt sure what this would mean, but slowly through training and trying to strengthen her hind end and her sacroiliac joint she is coming on nicely. The more she is ridden the better she is, I work in the city and this makes it very difficult for me to committ to what she needs, therefore I am looking for someone to love her as much as I do and help me reach her potential, she has not even partially reached this and I am certain there is still is a little show cob, honestly I don't think she will ever be a showjumper although she loves jumping, but she could do cross country, sponsored rides, dressage and she is great at hacking. I am looking ideally for someone who has a good deal of experience with horses, a novice could deal with jess but I need a good/confident rider who can help with her training, she is a cob and therefore can be lazy if you let her, so she needs a strong hand especially when schooling, she can also be very strong out hacking and occasionally a bit spooky but nothing that a confident rider cannot handle. I generally ride 2-3 times a week in the evenings and where possible both days on the weekend, she is free all throughout the working week during the day, (except when I am on holiday) to be ridden or evenings when I am not riding, she can be ridden twice on the weekend once her fitness improves oh and it stops snowing! I would be looking for a weekly contribution towards her upkeep, she is currently on part livery, she is DIY on the weekends, at a livery yard in Old Welwyn in Hertfordshire with excellent facilities. I am looking for the right sharer for Jess, this is a hard decision but it is in her best interest, possibility of purchasing additional horse later this year which I would happily look to share also.
