I am seeking someone to ride my 15hh 16yr old gelding a couple of days a week - possibly 3. He is really just a happy hacker, and I am looking for a lovely kind, mature competent reliable person to enjoy him and give him a bit of tlc on the days I am working ( Mon, tues and weds). I need someone who can ride during daylight in winter.
He would be suitable for a lady who is looking to get back into riding, or, if like me, you don't have quite enough days in the week to fit everything in!
He is kept at family home near Ringmer. Direct access to farmland hacking, and onto quiet lanes. He is kept alone, so you need to be happy to ride on your own. He is safe, and does his best to please, but can be a little lazy and so needs someone who is confident (eg, if you don't feel confident asking him to canter, he probably won't do it!).
I am not looking for someone to hoon around, nor to school, though if you have the experience and knowledge I would be glad for him to be schooled: I have recently started trying to school more, so he is a work in progress. He is a hanoverian x cob type. We have also recently started venturing out to local shows, so may be opportunity there.
Unfortunately I don't have access to a school other than hiring one a short hack away, and it is all very simple with the stable and field - no flashy yards I'm afraid, I just need to find a nice down to earth person who will love him for what he is, foibles and all!
He can be a little stiff but working seems to help, and we are working on getting him more supple. He generally keeps in good health, but was unfortunate to get a virus and anaemia last year, so I'd like someone who is considerate. This year he has been fine.
Small contribution of 75 pounds per calender month, which goes directly towards his upkeep.
Please email in first instance with details of experience and where you are. Thank you :o)
